DR MARY MCMAHON, Scientific Committee Chair, Conference Convenor
MARYSenior Lecturer, School of Education, The University of Queensland, Australia.
Dr. Mary McMahon coordinates and lectures in the career development specialisation of the Master of Educational Studies program and also lectures in the school guidance and counselling specialisation. Her research focuses on the career development of children and adolescents, narrative and storied approaches to career counselling, qualitative approaches to career assessment, and counsellor supervision. She has published widely and presented at national and international conferences. In 2002, Mary won the New Hobsons Press and the Australian Association of Career Counsellors Inc. Excellence award for outstanding contribution to the career industry. Mary is a representative to the Career Industry Council of Australia. As a consultant, Mary has contributed to several Australian career development projects.
MR COL MCCOWAN OAM, Conference Convenor
colDirector, Cromach Careers, former Manager Careers & Employment, Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia.
Col is a registered psychologist, teacher and counsellor who has worked in a variety of roles including school guidance counsellor, regional manager of guidance services, career resources developer, guidance training officer, government policy officer, private practitioner, university academic and university services manager. He has also worked as both a consultant and in a voluntary capacity for organisations such as UNDP and Asia Development Bank for the country of Bhutan for a period over 15 years and also for the country of Oman. He has authored or co-authored three publications and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Australian Journal of Career Development. He has received a number of prestigious national awards both at a personal level and at a best practice service level and In 2008 was awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM)for services to the career industry in Australia. He is an experienced conference organiser having been credited with organising or being involved in the organising of over 23 successful conferences to date.
PROFESSOR NANCY ARTHUR
nancyProfessor, Division of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Education, University of Calgary, Canada.
Dr Nancy Arthur is a Professor in the Division of Applied Psychology, Faculty of Education, and holds a Canada Research Chair in Professional Education at the University of Calgary. Dr Arthur’s teaching and research interests include multicultural counselling and career development. Her recent co-edited book, Case Incidents in Counselling for International Transitions involved collaboration with authors from 12 countries. Dr Arthur is a registered psychologist and continues career counselling as an associate with the Calgary Psychology Group.  
PROFESSOR JENNY BIMROSE

hennyProfessorial Fellow, Institute for Employment Research, University of Warwick, England.
With over thirty years of experience teaching, researching and managing in higher education, she has also acted as consultant for the Council of Europe on careers guidance, as well as a trainer and consultant with numerous UK careers organisations. Before starting work at the University of Warwick, she was Head of Centre for Training in Careers Guidance at the University of East London (UEL). At different stages at UEL, she was course tutor for part and full time post graduate courses, a master’s programme and Manager of an NVQ Assessment Centre. Early on in her career, she was a career guidance practitioner and worked as an unemployment specialist with disadvantaged clients, a careers adviser in a higher education context, as well as working with young people in mainstream educational settings.

Les is currently Senior Careers Adviser at The University of Western Australia with responsibility for managing and delivering a range of programs to meet the career development needs of students, working with employers of graduates to facilitate their recruitment activities and developing the quality of Careers Centre staff and services in line with the Professional Standards and the Guidelines for Career Development Services & Information. In addition to his more than 20 years experience in the career development field he has been an active member of CDAA, having convened the 2007 Conference, and is presently Chair of the Professional Development portfolio on the National Executive Committee.

DR DALE FURBISH
daleSenior Lecturer, Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand.
Dale is a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the Graduate Diploma in Career Development and the Master of Career Development at AUT. He has over 25 years experience as a career counsellor, during which time he served as Director of Counselling at a tertiary institution in the United States. Dale has an undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Counselling. He earned his doctorate from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dale’s current research interests include professionalisation of career practice in New Zealand, international career transitions, and the influence of self-funded leave on career development. He is also involved in investigating trans-national standards for career practice competencies and their effect on local practice issues. Dale is active in the Career Development Association of New Zealand and served as its President for two terms.
MS CHRISTINE HOLLAND
christineCDAA National Vice-President.
Christine is a Professional Member of the CDAA and is in her third year as a member of the National Executive. She currently holds the position of National Vice-President and formerly the roles of National Treasurer and President of the Victorian Division. She is qualified in career practice with a Master of Career Development and a Graduate Certificate in Careers Counselling. Christine currently operates her own career business and also holds a marketing role at Monash University Gippsland. Her experiences in career practice are diverse and include managing outplacement projects, workshop delivery, unemployment services, education sector and executive coaching. Christine’s career background crosses a broad range of industries and businesses. She has had exposure to an extensive variety of business types through ownership, management and leadership roles as well as directorships on a range of Boards.  
DR PETER MCILVEEN

Dr Peter McIlveen is with the Faculty of Education at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He teaches career development studies and adult learning, and coordinates that university’s graduate qualification in higher education practice. He is a representative on the Career Industry Council of Australia, editor of the Australian Journal of Career Development, and a founding member of Career Development Research Australia.  

PROFESSOR SPENCER NILES
SPENCEProfessor and Department Head, Counsellor Education, Counselling Psychology, and Rehabilitation Services, Pennsylvania State University, United States of America.
Dr. Spencer Niles is Professor and Department Head for Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, and Rehabilitation Services at Pennsylvania State University. He is also Director of the Center for the Study of Career Development and Public Policy at Penn State and serves as a consult in international development for Kuder, Inc. (a web-based career planning system). Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State, he served for 13 years on the faculty at the University of Virginia, during which time he was appointed Assistant Dean for the Curry School of Education.  
MS JENNI PROCTOR

Jenni Proctor is the Principal of Career Clarity, a Brisbane based practice offering services to individuals, education and organisations. She has a Master of Career Development and a background in education. Jenni is a Fellow of CDAA and immediate Past President of the Queensland division. She was awarded the Australian Career Service Judith Leeson Award for Excellence in Career Teaching in 2005 and 2006.
PROFESSOR JEROME ROSSIER
jeromeProfessor and Director of the Institute of Psychology, University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

Jérôme Rossier studied psychology at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He obtained a PhD in psychology at the University of Lausanne. After work experiences at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the National Institute of Health, United-States, and at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, he is currently full professor of vocational and counselling psychology at the director of the Institute of Psychology of the University of Lausanne. Jérôme is also editor of the International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance and member of several editorial boards of scientific journals such as the Journal of Research in Personality. His teaching areas and research interests include counselling, personality, psychological assessment, and cross-cultural psychology. He has published a great number of articles and book chapters mainly about cross-cultural, personality, and vocational counselling issues.  
DR NANTA SOORAKSA
NANTADr Nanta Sooraksa is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Guidance and Educational Psychology, Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok, Thailand. 
She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chiang Mai University, a Masters of Education in Developmental Psychology from Srinakharinwirot University, Bangkok, and an Educational Doctorate in Counselling from Texas Southern University, USA.  She has extensive experience in various projects particularly involving the training of trainers in career counselling around ASIAN countries.  Her research interests include career counselling and applied psychology. 

MR PETER TATHAM
tathamMr Peter Tatham, Executive Director (and a past president), Career Industry Council of Australia.
Peter has more than 25 years experience as a career consultant and in developing and managing career transition programs at all levels in Australia and overseas. He was formerly Head of the University of Tasmania, Career Development and Employment Service and currently conducts his own careers consultancy. He has also worked on aid programs in the Pacific region and has represented Australia as a member of the country team at the past four international symposia on career development and public policy.
DR RAIMO VUORINEN

raimoProject Manager, Coordinator of the ELGPN, Finnish Institute for Educational Research, University of Jyväskylä, Finland.
Dr. Raimo Vuorinen is currently the Co-ordinator of the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network during its initial phase 2007-10. He has been a Member of the European Commission Lifelong Guidance Expert Group 2002-07. He is also a Board Member of the International Association for Vocational and Educational Guidance, IAEVG 2007-11 and a Board member of the International Centre for Career Development and Public Policy 2005 onwards. He has worked as a Senior Researcher at the University of Joensuu, Finland 1998-2000 and at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research, University of Jyväskylä, Finland 2000-10. In his work as a trainer and researcher Dr. Raimo Vuorinen has been focusing on the strategic design, implementation and evaluation of lifelong guidance services. Another key interest is lifelong guidance policy development. He has been engaged in various national evaluations, development projects and in-service programmes in the area of vocational and educational guidance from comprehensive education to higher education in Finland. He has also contributed the OECD and European Union evaluations on guidance policies in 2000-04. Since 2006 he is engaged in the development of The National Centre for Lifelong Guidance Expertise in the Jyväskylä University. His PhD dissertation thesis 2006 focused on the professional use of Internet based resources in career guidance.  

PROFESSOR MARK WATSON
watsonProfessor, Department of Psychology, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa.
Mark is a professor of the Psychology Department of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. His research focuses on career development and career assessment of primary, secondary and tertiary students from all South African population groups. Mark has published extensively in international journals, is the co-editor of several career books, has contributed book chapters to several international career texts, and is a co-developer of an international qualitative career assessment tool. He is presently on the editorial advisory board of several national and international career journals. 
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR MANTAK YUEN
mantekAssociate Professor, Faculty of Education, University of Hong Kong, China.
Dr. Mantak Yuen is an associate professor at the University of Hong Kong. He is a registered counselling and educational psychologist. His professional interests are in school counselling, gifted education, social-emotional learning, and life career development. He is the principal investigator of the Connectedness and Life Skills Development Projects. He is a course co-ordinator of a postgraduate certificate programme in Career Education and Counselling, and supervise postgraduate research student dissertations. His other interests include travelling, table tennis, movies, photography, painting, and museums.  
DR GIDEON ARULMANI
gideonDr. Gideon Arulmani, is a clinical psychologist with an M.Phil in Medical and Social Psychology and a doctoral degree in Career Psychology from the University of Portsmouth (UK). He is the Founder and Managing Trustee of The Promise Foundation, headquarted in Bangalore, India. Gideon has contributed to the development of various career education programmes for young people in the developing world. His research has been presented at international conferences and important scientific journals. Gideon is presently leading the Jiva Project that addresses capacity building for career psychology in the Indian / developing world context. Gideon is an international consultant for the World Bank, UNICEF and the Asian Development Bank, and has executed assignments on guidance and counselling in Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia. He is a member of the International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance and Visiting Senior Lecturer at the University of Canterbury Christ Church UK. He was instrumental in the formation of the Indian Association for Career and Livelihood Planning. He is a member of the Government of India Planning Commission’s committee for Adolescents' Development and Youth Affairs. He is also interested in the documentary as a medium of communication and worked as a photographer-script writer in the early part of his career. He uses the parable as a key element in his presentations and his approach to counselling. He is presently working on two novels in the historical fiction genre set in South Asia. Mowyla, a company he has informally started, searches for unseen stories in nature to create handmade artifacts that unveil their unseen intricacies. Gideon’s strongest passion is making wine! Gideon’s strongest passion is making wine! He has a small vine yard, where he grows an Indian version of Shiraz.
